Linoleum floors are a popular component of many peoples homes and for good reason. They can give off a good decor and are not that difficult to clean and maintain, even the older ones. Speaking of cleaning, that is what we will go over in this article. We’ll share our years of experience and expert tips on how to effectively clean linoleum floors.
Cleaning Dirty Linoleum Floors
First of all, we will go over the stuff that you’ll need to get the job done.
- Old washcloths
- Hot water
- Rubber gloves
- Good mop
- Vacuum cleaner
Now that you have all the necessary tools we will walk through the directions.
Directions
First, you’ll want to use the vacuum cleaner to do a quick Passover on the linoleum floor. Make sure you get the bulk of the dirt off the floor because if you don’t then it will make your job harder later.
Next, you can fill a bucket up with a gallon of water and use a little bit of dish soap to make a soapy mix.
Now take the mop and dip it in the bucket to get it soaked with the water. Make sure to wring it out and then start mopping the floor. It’s probably best to start with certain sections at a time and rinse off the mop after each section is complete. Once the mopping is all done then take the bucket and rinse it out more and dry the floor with the washcloths.
Linoleum Floors With Grooves
If you have the type of linoleum floors that have grooves then you need to work some deep scrubbing into your routine. This is fairly easy to do and you’ll just need the same supplies as we went over earlier with the addition of a scrub brush.
Follow the same directions as before but this time make sure to use the scrub brush on the floor very thoroughly and brush in a circle. Also, rinse the brush off when necessary.
Once that has been done you can simply rinse the floor off with hot, clean water and dry it with the washcloth like before.
Conclusion
In conclusion, linoleum floors are not all that hard to maintain and clean even if they are dirty. Simply follow the process we’ve laid out and they will continue to maintain a good state for years to come.
